Nicht nur Liebe geht durch den Magen, auch das Reisen hat ganz viel mit Genuss zu tun. Persönlich sind mir jene Reiseziele die liebsten, an denen es köstliches Essen auch noch zu guten Preisen gibt. Glücklicherweise gehört Bali dazu.

Auch die Küche Balis hat sich mit der wachsenden Zahl an Touristen verändert und weiterentwickelt. Daher ist heute überall auf der Insel internationale Küche zu finden – von Burger, über Pizza bis zum Sushi. Am lokalsten sind die Gerichte sicherlich noch in den kleinen Warungs überall am Straßenrand, bei denen man Reis- und Nudelgerichte mit Fleisch oder Gemüse kaufen kann. Wer nicht auf Tradition besteht, aber trotzdem etwas Abwechslung zur europäischen Küche haben möchte, darf sich über die Einflüsse der australischen Küche auf das Essensangebot freuen. Viele Trend-Gerichte, die Deutschland erst nach und nach erobern, sind in Bali bereits überall zu finden – von der Poke-Bowl bis zum Aktivkohle-Eis.

Wir hatten Glück und kamen ganz ohne Eintritt in den Beach Club. Aber der tolle Strand, das türkisblaue Wasser und das kostenlose Stand Up Paddling machen auch den Eintritt wieder wett. Bevor ihr ähnlich waghalsig wie wir auf das Navi hereinfallt: Nein, die Betontreppe am Aussichtsbalkon führt nicht hinunter an den Strand. Dort findet man anstatt entspannter Strandliegen nur blaue Flecken und Kratzer, wenn die Treppenstufen irgendwann auslaufen und man samt Rucksack den steilen Hang hinunterrutscht.

Es gibt wohl kaum ein schöneres Plätzchen, um einen frischen Wassermelonensaft zu trinken, während man der Sonne dabei zusieht, wie sie hinter den Profisurfern im Meer versinkt.

Of course also the balinese food scene is changing accordingly to the growing numbers of tourists on the island. Today you can find food from every part of the world – no matter if you are craving a burger, pizza or sushi. If you prefer to eat something local, you should probably give one oft he various Warungs („little restaurant“) a try. What you see is what you get – most often warungs show their assortment of meals in their windows. Usually they contain of either rice or noodles with meat or vegetables, If you like it less traditionally but still a little different to your usual european meals, you will definitely appreciate the influence of the australian kitchen in the balinese food scene. In Bali you can find a lot of hyped food trends that just started to grow in Germany, like Poke Bowls or black ice cream with activated carbon.

The great location is only one reason to stop by at this cute little café. Furthermore it’s a good starting point if you’re planning to walk the Bukit Campuhan.

Uluwatu

Luckily we had the chance to visit the beach club without paying the entree fee. Nonetheless the beautiful beach, the turquoise water and the free stand up paddling is worth to pay for. Before you chose to be as bold (or stupid) as us, allow me to give you an advice: The stone steps starting at the balcony with the great view at the sea is not the right path to go. Instead of chilled beach atmosphere you will only find yourself stumpling down the cliffs when you realize, that those steps end nowhere.

The entrance is right behind the wooden hotel entrance. The nice staff will show you the way to the elevator that brings you down to the beach.

Single Fin

There is rather a more beautiful spot to have a fresh watermelon juice while watching the sundown behind the surf, than Single Fin. Try to get a spot in the first row to have the best view on the hot surfer crowd.
